to start my first ever post i’m going to begin with the story of how this blog came about.  i’ve known for weeks that my xmas gift would be a blog that he would create for me, with my own url i’ve reserved over a year ago, and a cute (of course) template that i chose.  so on the thursday before all the xmas festivities, i came home from work and saw some wrapping paper littered about.  not far from this mess was a somewhat large box wrapped with the said paper and a card on the top.  looking excited, he quickly motioned me to open up my early xmas gift so i obliged.  right off the bat, the card seemed a bit odd with “anita” scribed on it.  he NEVER calls me that so that in itself seemed a bit fishy.  the actual (somewhat) funny card was meant to contain a gift certificate inside, where instead he taped a penny.  with no indication of any written kisses, he signed it “ben” (again, very weird).  so i opened the wrapped box, and there was a white toaster (one that you get from rite aid or walmart for $9.99) which we do in fact need in our kitchen.  immediately i opened the box to see if anything was stuck in the bread slots since he’s been known to be sneaky like that, especially when a vegas trip is on the horizon.  after no luck finding anything inside the toaster box, i chalked this present as something that we both needed in our times of penny pinching and sensible spending.  but the smirk on his face showed there was something more and in his sneaky ways, out came another card with “schmoopulous schmoopzorz” written in that familiar writing and bringing sense into the world again.  as a self-described sensitive sap, the contents of the card immediately brought tears down my cheeks and fuzziness in my heart.  and with a quick motion, he uncovered what was under the blanket that the toaster present had rested on, and a HUGE computer screen glowed bright orange on the crisp LCD picture.  there it was, my blog…in time for xmas even with the slight hiccup with the domain host earlier that week.  i am still in disbelief as i write on my toshiba laptop with a duo centrino processor (he says that’s a good thing) and i think he has really outdone himself this year.  last year schmooptionary and now this.  as i hug him tightly and tell him he’s the best and he is just setting the bar higher each year.  without missing a beat, he answers that he likes the fact he has the challenge each year to make my xmas special, but little does he know that HE is the best gift i’ve ever received.
