Wanna Smell Like the Olsen Twins?

I’m a big fan of perfume.  While I’m not a connoisseur, I don’t know if I like a floral top note and woodsy bottom note (is there even a bottom note?), I can appreciate the fact that it feels good to smell pretty.  I am not one of those who walks out of a room, leaving a cloud of heavy perfume.  I’d much rather leave an impression based on my style than my scent.  But similar to my fashion sense, I enjoy experimenting with the latest and greatest in new fragrances.

The other day, I was at Rite Aid, and for some reason, I was drawn to this bottle of called “Tokyo Fusion” by Mary Kate and Ashley…yes, you read that right, the multi-billionaire tycoons we grew up with on Full House.  Not sure what got into me since I shudder at the thought of buying “Paris Hilton” or “Curious by Britney Spears” (although I admittedly have J. Lo’s “Glow”), but when I tested the scent on me, I was pleasantly surprised.  It had top notes of mandarin blossoms, middle notes of jasmine, and a heady oriental scent (ok, I just totally made that up but it sounds good doesn’t it!).  All I knew that it smelled pretty on me and that’s really all it should take.  I used to wish I had a signature scent, like the uncomparable Chanel No. 5 or the classic Shalimar.  Visions of a femme fatale of the 50’s gently dabbing an exotic scent while sitting at her pink boudoir come to mind.  Yet, I seem to always go back to my old standby…Jovan Musk or Jovan White Musk which, you guessed it, can be purchased at any Rite Aid.  It was the scent I wore in High School that Angela Nelson introduced to me and I’ve always sworn by it.  My boyfriend seems to only mention that I smell good when I spritz either one of these on me.  So I guess that means that I smell of cheap perfume…well, I’d rather smell of that than any soon-to-be jailbird or a bald and washed-up pop star.
